Meet the Centre Manager – Kira Miller 

I have completed a Diploma of Children’s Services as well as a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. Over the past decade, I’ve worked as an early childhood educator in England and Australia.

The most rewarding part of my career is fostering the development of children within their early years. It is vital for children to have a sense of belonging within their child care setting where they are loved and cared for by educators.

At The Learning Sanctuary Morningside, we provide children with a safe and secure base to develop meaningful, reciprocal and respectful relationships. This sets them up to explore their strengths and abilities with confidence as they are supported, nurtured and empowered by educators to help them flourish and reach their full potential.

I also believe that a partnership between educators and families is important for the comfort and progression of a child’s development.

When it comes to children, we believe in learning through play, learning from experimentation, and learning to take on the years ahead with awe and imagination.

Our life-readiness program focuses on building a child’s confidence and self-esteem as well as supporting literacy and numeracy through play-based learning, and you’ll be able to watch this journey with daily updates via our app.

Our curriculum lays the foundations for a successful educational journey through:

• Social and emotional development

Compared to traditional kindergartens, we’re open longer from 6:30am-7.00pm. Our program runs 52 weeks of the year and offers up to 5 days per week to truly prepare your child for school.

Nursery (6 weeks-2 years)

Our nursery rooms provide:

• A safe and nurturing environment where children feel confident to explore and learn
• Tummy time, physical activity, messy play and sensory play
• Language-rich activities including music, singing, reading and rhymes

Toddlers (2-3 years)

Our Toddlers room offers:

• Learning about social skills when working together as part of a group
• Understanding independence skills and body autonomy
• Flow between environments and focusing on individual children’s interests

Little Learners (2-3 years)

Our Early Learners room offers:

• Enhanced social skills through group and individual play
• Interactive technology designed to promote gross and fine motor skills
• A language-rich environment through books and conversations
• Opportunities to explore literacy and numeracy concepts through real-life experiences

Early Learners (3-4 years)

Our Pre-Kinder room provides:

• Highly qualified and nurturing educators who support children’s learning and social-emotional development
• The development of literacy, numeracy and social skills through play
• Unlimited opportunities for outdoor play and discovery
• Extracurricular programs including Introduction to Japanese Culture and Future Champs, a complete health and physical educational program including Yoganastics.

Kindergarten (4-5 years)

Our kindergarten room offers:

• A life-readiness program focused on strengthening children’s social and emotional leraning
• Opportunities for children to use their interests as a vehicle for learning
• Activities that boost social and emotional skills, self-awareness and respect for others
• A daily kindergarten program including transition-to-school program
• Woodworking and real life experiences
